The Upper Clutha A & P Show is only a fortnight away, on Friday and Saturday, 13 and 14 March, and is always a great family day out!  It is one of the South Island’s largest and most popular agricultural and pastoral shows set on the shores of Lake Wanaka, bringing town and country together over two days jam-packed with entertainment.

The Wanaka Show attracts the lower South Island’s best breeders and riders in livestock and equestrian events.

Horse and pony dressage and show jumping events take place over both days, as do the dog trials. Boer goats, wool fleeces and merinos are judged on the first day of the Show, while beef cattle, sheep stud and flock, pets and Gypsy Cob horses are judged on the second day.

There is also a strong Home Industry section, with many homemade produce, baking and craft entries for judging and on display. See who wins the best homebrew, the tastiest tomatoes or the strangest-looking garden vegetable.

Kids also get to enter their pets at the Show. Classes for the dogs and pets section are: Best pet lamb, most unusual pet, best caged pet, Jack Russell/terrier, toy dog (any breed or sex), sporting dog, Labrador, non-sporting dog and best pet.

Peak Accommodation‘s stunning holiday homes and apartments are all only a short walk from the showgrounds, and one of our properties, Pembroke Lodge, actually overlooks the event!  Call us now to book your accommodation for this fun weekend in Wanaka – 03 443 9224!
