Winter is upon us and we want you to experience Lake Wanaka like a local! As the days get shorter and colder you might start dreaming of your perfect winter getaway! Think beautiful knitwear, mulled wine in the afternoon and cosy evenings by the fire! Wanaka offers a multitude of ski fields, long walks by picturesque lakes, a cosy village atmosphere with plenty of top notch accommodation and the chance to spend quality time with your loved ones.

Whether you are traveling with a partner, friends or family, Wanaka has it all! So where will the locals be eating and drinking once the sun has gone down and the ski boots are off for the day.

No matter what time of day, week or month, there will always be a crowd outside Kai Pai. Head there to soak up the atmosphere and be surrounded by the cool kids. Local beer and good coffee, you can enjoy your favourite tipple knowing you are in good company.

Or do you want to fill your tired ski legs with something hearty, nutritious and delicious? Head to the new local hot spot Big Fig for amazing Middle Eastern inspired meals which will leave you happy, content and feeling like you might have just found the best deal in town!

Rise and shine, the ski fields await!! First things first though, make sure you fit in a coffee stop before you drive out to Treble Cone or Cardrona. Wanaka is spoilt for chice when it comes to brilliant baristas but be prepared, you might have to get in line!! Head back to Big Fig for friendly staff and a fabulous flat white or give Federal Diner a crack, their homemade almond milk is a winner.
